The Donaldson Trust’s chief executive, Laura Watkins, will retire after ten years leading the Charity.  

Laura has led the neurodiversity charity since 2014, working closely with government, health, education and voluntary partner organisations across Scotland and beyond. 

“We are deeply grateful to Laura for her visionary leadership and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. The Donaldson Trust is now in a strong position, ready to confidently pursue the next phase of our strategic vision with renewed optimism”, said Sean Duffy, Chair of Trustees for The Donaldson Trust. 

Laura’s leadership has established the Charity as the National Body for Neurodiversity, significantly influencing policy and empowering neurodivergent voices. Her dedication and passion have driven profound change, and her legacy will continue to inspire us as we build on this solid foundation.” 

Laura Watkins said: “It has been an honour and privilege to have had the opportunity to lead this organisation over the past ten years. I have worked with many people during that time who have journeyed with me.   Through the embedding of collective knowledge, integrity and experience we have been able to drive much needed change, and make a difference with, and for, neurodivergent people. 

Although there remain many challenges for neurodivergent people in Scotland, the Donaldson Trust is committed through our work to continue to improve access, increase opportunities, and importantly ensure that understanding and acceptance is at the heart of everything we do. “  

Laura will leave the Charity in Spring 2025 after 10 years of service. The process to recruit her successor will take place this autumn.
