We are seeking a part-time Science Tutor to join our team at Donaldson’s on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, personalised science tuition within our Sensational Learning Centre – a grant-aided special school supporting children and young people with complex additional support needs.
• Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group science tuition across BGE and the Senior Phase
• Plan and adapt learning in line with Curriculum for Excellence and Qualification Scotland requirements
• Create engaging, practical science experiences through experiments, investigations and inquiry
• Assess and track learner progress, using this to inform next steps
• Support learners with additional support needs, including neurodivergent pupils
• Foster a safe, inclusive and motivating learning environment
• Prepare pupils for assessments and coursework, where appropriate
• Maintain high standards of health & safety within practical science environments
• Uphold GTCS Professional Standards and Code of Conduct
You will have:
• Full GTCS registration in Chemistry, Biology or Physics (essential)
• Experience supporting children and young people with additional support needs
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching for individual learners
• Experience delivering practical, investigative science learning
• A sound understanding of safeguarding and laboratory safety
• A commitment to inclusive, person-centred practice
